Arriving at Budapest Airport: Your Car Rental Pickup Guide

Arriving at Budapest Airport (BUD / Liszt Ferenc) and driving straight out is the most direct way to start a trip in Hungary. You land, you collect your car, and the road to Vienna, Bratislava, Lake Balaton or Hévíz is already open in front of you.

On arrival: collecting your car
Flight number → arrival time → meeting point → handover. Choose airport handover in step 3 of booking. We meet you at the terminal or an agreed point — not a counter inside the building — and bring the keys, timed to your flight.
Late flight? WhatsApp or phone as soon as you see the delay. We wait when we can; late fees follow the contract.
At pick-up, bring a Latin-script ID and a valid driving licence. The deposit is secured at pick-up with a debit or credit card in the renter's name; prepaid and virtual prepaid cards and cash are not accepted. The amount differs per car and is shown on each car page.

Airport handover is not part of the daily rate: it is HUF 5,000, added at booking. EUR prices use Trade Rent's rate (1 EUR = 350 HUF); you can pay in EUR or HUF at that rate.
How to book your Budapest airport car hire
To rent a car at Budapest Airport, book online at traderent.hu/en, choose your car and confirm your dates. Pay the rental fee online by card when you book (Teya), or on site by card at pick-up. The deposit is paid by card at pick-up in both cases.
Which car fits your trip

Where you can drive from the airport
- Vienna: around 260 km via the M0 and M1, roughly two hours 45 minutes. A Vienna round trip is about 520 km, so plan 3 rental days or expect extra kilometre charges.
- Bratislava: around 220 km, roughly two hours 15 minutes.
- Lake Balaton: around 120 km via the M0 and M7 to Siófok, roughly one hour 15 minutes.
- Hévíz: around 210 km west, roughly two hours 15 minutes.
Abroad only with prior written consent (cross-border authorisation): Austria, Slovakia, Czechia, Croatia, Slovenia. Name the country at booking. Foreign vignettes, tolls and fines are yours.
